Pregnancy After Birth Trauma: Finding Support and Hope
When Birth Trauma Meets Your Next Pregnancy
When I found out I was pregnant again after a difficult birth, I was SO excited!!! I had felt from the first trimester that I needed to get my second baby here, FAST.
But, to my chagrin, it took us almost 17 months before I got pregnant again.
During the waiting time, I interviewed providers, did EMDR (a type of trauma therapy), improved my nutrition and finally - for the first time in my LIFE - found a consistent workout schedule. (Yay, me!)
I was ready.
I wasn’t going to let my birth trauma define this pregnancy. I had the tools, and I had the support. And, honestly, I believed it. I truly believed that I would LOVE being pregnant again, and my birth trauma wouldn’t be an issue.
Boy, was I wrong.
The anxiety slammed me like a freight train.
Not only was I not “ready” - I was terrified. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being threatened. I threw myself into studying how to prevent the complications that led to birth trauma in the first place, into interviewing MORE providers, into arguing with my husband - daily - about where to give birth. I couldn’t sleep, I felt triggered at EVERY midwife appointment. I was really struggling.
Why I’m Offering This Group
By this point, you probably get the general gist. Birth trauma sucks, and even when we do EVERYTHING to move forward - getting pregnant again is a colossal trigger.
And people around you don’t always “get it”. Even my husband - my perfect, sweet, empathetic husband - got irritated with my constant anxiety and worry.
If you’ve ever felt that way, I want you to know—you’re not alone. So many moms who’ve experienced birth trauma find that their next pregnancy brings back fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. It’s not just you. And it’s not something you have to go through on your own.
That’s why I’m creating a free 6-week support group for moms pregnant after a difficult or traumatic birth.
I’ve lived through the weight of birth trauma myself. I know how isolating it can feel when everyone around you expects you to “just be excited” about being pregnant again. But your feelings are valid. Healing takes time, support, and safe spaces to share your story.
This group is my way of bringing together moms who get it. Together, we’ll listen, share, and build skills for facing pregnancy after trauma with courage and compassion.
What We’ll Do Together
Over six weeks, we’ll meet for 90-minute sessions that include:
A short presentation from a guest expert (like a doula, childbirth educator, or maternal mental health professional)
Structured sharing time where you can talk, listen, and connect with other moms walking the same path
You’ll have the chance to:
Process your birth story in a safe space
Learn coping skills to help calm anxiety
Build resources and connections in the community
Prepare for a positive birth this time around
